Red Hat Enterprise Linux Base OS/Core services Internship

Job summary:

The Red Hat Czech RHEL Core Services Engineering team is looking for an Intern for Linux application maintenance and development to join us in Brno, Czech Republic (remotely from Prague, under the supervision of colleagues working in Prague). As a Core Services intern, you will contribute to the core services of GNU/Linux operating system. In this role, you will help senior developers with their “backlog” and “nice to have” tasks, propose bug fixes upstream and help with improving our quality and continuous integration tests and automating tasks that are currently manual. This long-term internship will give you a chance to work with skilled engineers every day, to experience working on large code bases, to improve your debugging skills, and to get familiar with enterprise quality engineering processes and automation of IT infrastructures.

Primary job responsibilities:

Develop new features, fix bugs, do root cause analysis; Contribute test for newly added features and fixed bugs; Improve and automate current tests; Contribute to Continuous Integration (CI) of assigned packages and upstream projects

Required skills:

Official university student status in the Czech Republic in an Information Technology related area (especially suitable for Czech Technical University, FEL students as we have an engineering office there); C or Python programming skills; Eager to continuously learn new technologies; User level experience with Linux (ideally with managing their own Linux system); Scripting experience in shell; Communicative level of English; Professional communication skills; Familiarity with larger projects and open source projects is a plus
