Gaudeamus exhibition prides itself as the best known education and study abroad fair in central Europe. It is aimed at high-school students looking for opportunities to continue with their studies so the main exhibitors are universities. Red Hat will be present for a second year at the entire exhibition as a partner of multiple exhibiting faculties. We will be present with some of our current high-school interns to tell the attending young people all about what it is like to be an intern at Red Hat during your studies at university.

Have you always wanted to see what this JavaScript business is all about but never had the time? Have you ever wondered, why anyone sane would choose JavaScript for a server side project?

Here’s your great opportunity. MobileQE team will be doing the teaching – at our Open Source Lab at FI MU. You can come see for yourself, try it out and judge it on its own merits!

This workshop should teach you:
* about node.js and its ecosystem
* about modern JavaScript and its features
* by showing how to write a simple, resilient and well-tested web-service

You will need your own laptop so don’t forget to bring it! Instructions on what environment to set up will be sent to those, who register on the link below.

PyCon SK is a community-organized conference for the Python programming language.

After successful organization in more than 40 countries, PyCon was in Slovakia in 2016. We have really enjoyed the conference, and already started to prepare for next year. We are happy to announce that second PyCon SK will be held in Bratislava on 10th – 12th March, 2017.

We received many high quality talk proposals from all around the world and started to publish names of some of the speakers. You can still propose your own talk, there are a few more days left! All speakers will be notified shortly after 14th of February and we will post their names to PyCon.SK.

We are thrilled about the upcoming talks, workshops and presentations at PyConSK 2017. Please follow our social media accounts for updates.

Last year our conference sold out and this year we are already at 3/4 of our capacity. So if you haven’t bought a ticket yet, do not hesitate and buy your ticket soon.

The lab will be positioned at FEL CTU in Prague, but will be open for students from all universities and high-school that are interested in collaborating with Red Hat. During the event, Red Hat Lab project leaders will informally present their projects (each project will have its own booth), show you demos and answer any questions you might have. If you decide to participate, you can enroll to a Red Hat Lab program, getting you access to the Red Hat Labs at the universities and the opportunity to learn from Red Hat developers by working with them. The best participants can even earn a Red Hat Lab stipend! The projects are all open-source, making them a nice CV item.

Project Marketplace also offers you an opportunity to find a good topic for your Bachelor or Master thesis. A lot of the projects can be made into a thesis topic and some will even be offered as such.

IT SPY – competition for best open-source diploma thesis in 2016

An elite student IT competition organized by 20 Czech and Slovak Universities and ACM – Czech and Slovak section of the biggest learning and scientific IT organization – is starting its 7th annual event. Ten of the best IT projects out of approximately two thousand will be selected, this year under a new name – IT SPY. Historically, many finalists have become recognized scientists worldwide, creators of successful startups or specialists and managers in important positions in multinational technology companies.

The category Best open-source diploma project of 2016 will continue to be a part of IT SPY this year, too. A panel of experts from Red Hat will rank projects targeting open-source topics and will award special prizes for three best projects.

How can you apply?
The panel will choose from all projects registered for the competition including the ones that didn‘t make it to the semi-finals so you can compete for the best open-source diploma project prize simply by submitting your work to the competition.
