Red Hat recently announced the formation of asago (AI Safety and Governance Orchestration), a collaborative open source community project intended to automate how AI governance policies become safe, product-ready AI systems.
asago will translate complex policies into operational controls, transforming AI safety into a more predictable and governed enterprise utility. By eliminating the friction caused by manual reviews, human misunderstandings, and multiple standards, asago opens the door to faster innovation while establishing clear safety guardrails.
Red Hat joins Alquimia AI, Brave Software, EvalEval coalition, IBM Research, Interdisciplinary Transformation University Austria, Microsoft, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, North Carolina State University, NVIDIA, and The Alan Turing Institute in forming this community project. Open source partnerships like these are critical to making AI safe and governable at scale, drawing from the real-world know-how of industry and the deep research practice of academia to move quickly and provide accessible, vendor-neutral solutions.
