Griot and Grits Project on the Mass Open Cloud brings AI to digital humanities

Mar 14, 2025 | News

On February 24, Red Hat announced the launch of the the  Griot and Grits Project, an open source project developed in collaboration with Red Hat, Shaw University, the Mass Open Cloud and other cultural experts, educational leaders, and institutions to use the power of AI and open source to preserve Black history that would otherwise be lost. This initiative leverages AI-enabled Red Hat products and will run on the Mass Open Cloud. By creating a comprehensive, searchable archive, the project not only helps preserve important stories for future generations but also enables families and communities to contribute and engage with their history.

We look forward to sharing more about this collaboration as the work advances. Read the full story on the Red Hat Blog.
