Jan Jancar is a PhD student at the Centre for Research on Cryptography and Security (CRoCS) at Masaryk University in Brno working on side-channel attacks, elliptic curve cryptography and security of cryptographic implementations.
He is a Ph.D. candidate supervised by Vashek Matyas at the Centre for Research on Cryptography and Security at Masaryk University in Brno.
His research focuses on security of cryptographic implementations of asymmetric cryptosystems, mainly against timing and other side-channel attacks. Both software and hardware implementations are the target of research, each posing different challenges.
Jan prefers working with real-world hardware, such as smartcards using the JavaCard platform, as it makes any research results much more impactful and sometimes quite challenging to obtain due to the black-box nature of hardware.
