Greater New England Research Interest Group Meeting [April 2021]

Date: April 06, 2021

Meeting Agenda:

Research Paper Reading Group – Part 1 (20 min) – Ahmed Sanaullah

This session is designed to get you started on your paper reading journey –  a journey that we hope to take as a group so that we can help each other learn and benefit from each other’s expertise.

The session will consist of two parts. The first part will be an introduction to research papers. In the second part, we will highlight the ‘general’ value of research papers i.e. how can we find value in papers that are outside our areas of expertise. This will be done through an in-depth discussion of three papers from different areas (listed below).

These papers have all been selected from OSDI’20, which is one of the highest tier conferences in computer science and engineering. All media – including papers, slides, recordings and artifacts – is freely available at: https://www.usenix.org/conference/osdi20/technical-sessions.

Scheduling track — Providing SLOs for Resource-Harvesting VMs in Cloud Platforms
-OS & Networking track — PANIC: A High-Performance Programmable NIC for Multi-tenant Networks
-Security track — Orchard: Differentially Private Analytics at Scale

Note: There will be two more talks in this series at the same time and same meeting link: May 04, and June 01.
