Meeting Agenda: Friendly Fedora: A Student Capstone Project at UMass Lowell
Students: Ali Dia, Robert Moeller, Robert Santos, Ryan McCann, Sage Lyon, Wivishan Wigneswaran; UMass Lowell Mentor: Dr. Vinod Vokkarane; Red Hat Mentor: Mohan Boddu
At the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML), the majority of staff and students do not use Linux as their primary operating system and those who do tend to use Ubuntu. The goal of our project is to create a useful and “friendly” Fedora system that fits the needs of the UML community. In this presentation, we will discuss the progress that we have made in working toward this goal by surveying the community, working with lab personnel, and packaging software that would be useful for students. We also will discuss the Open-Source club that we established at the university to create a space for students to engage in the open-source community.
